About our Troop

History

Our troop has been on the Trail Life trail since 2018. We started with a small troop of trailmen and we have doubled in size. We have preserved through COVID-19 and we will continue on the trail. We truly have become a family and would love to have your family join our family!

Our troop has plans to be camping, hiking, fishing and being in the outdoors even more this year. Our Navigators and Adventurers went down to Gettysburg National Battlefield in 2022! They have plans to explore other areas in the great North East!

We also help serve our community as well. In past years we have assisted our town in one of the town cemetery clean ups. We cut back the overgrowth that was taking over a section of the cemetery. We take part in placing flags at all our town's veterans gravesites.

We have had our trailmen clean up the Mexico Point State Park. so others may enjoy the beauty of the park.

We have partnered with P.A.L.O.P.S. and help maintain their 72 acres of property along with a cabin for use by our troop. This is location has water front access to allow for a multitude of adventures for our trailmen.

Through troop fundraisers we are able to maintain our troop trailer and go on our adventures. However it is also important our Trailmen learn to give back to their community so we partake in Operation Christmas Child and pack shoeboxes, we lay wreaths at Fort Ontario for Wreaths Across America, and we give back to our local and county food banks!

Our Troop NY-1613 number was not randomly chosen. 1613 comes from the 1st book of Corinthians Chapter 16 verse 13.

13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.

Palermo UMC also has an American Heritage Girls (AHG) troop that meets on the same dates and times. Although the two troops will start and finish troop meetings at the same time, AHG and TL are two separate organizations with activities tailored to raise young women and young men according to God's Word.
